Why Choose Kenya

Travel to this beautiful East African country and you will find a delightful mix of wildlife adventures, miles of sugary white sand beach and some of the most hospitable people in Africa.

Nairobi is the capital and is where most safaris start. Its elevated position means that the city enjoys an enviable climate and has plenty to keep you occupied before you head off on safari.

Kenya is the place where safari was 'invented' in fact the word means journey in Swahili. Long gone are the days of white hunters wishing to bag themselves a trophy, travellers today are armed with cameras, binoculars and a passion for experiencing African wildlife in its natural habitat. Watching the sun go down over the Masai Mara must be one of the most wonderful and magical experiences you can have.

The migration in July and August is one of the greatest wildlife shows on earth, book early to avoid missing out.

Mombasa on Kenya's coast offers long stretches of soft sandy beach and is very popular for those looking to relax after a Kenya safari. You will find a wide choice of places to stay from large resorts to smaller more intimate hotels. If beach life is more your thing but you want a short safari experience there are a selection of shorter adventures which can be booked from Mombasa too. No holiday is complete without at least one night in search of the big five!

It's easy to understand why many travellers fall under Kenya's spell, it offers so many unforgettable experiences, vast lakes filled with flamingos, wide plains teeming with game and relaxing lazy days of sunshine on the beach. Visit once and you are sure to want to return time and time again.

Kenya's National Parks

Samburu, Shaba and Aberdare
Situated 230 miles north of Nairobi at the edge of the arid northeast region, Samburu and Shaba are well known for their herds of elephant and large numbers of leopards, along with more unusual Grevys zebra and reticulated giraffe. Watch out for the crocodiles by the Ewaso Ngiro River, a magnet for all wildlife at the end of the dat. Aberdare is more wooded with plenty of monkeys and amazing birdlife.

Lakes Nakuru and Naivasha
Lying at the heart of the Great Rift Valley, these two magnificent lakes have attracted bird and animal life for thousands of years. In its own National Park, Lake Nakuru is world famous for hundreds of thousands of pink flamingos which live there, as well as the variety of game around its shores. Lake Naivasha boasts over 400 species of native birds.

Amboseli and Tsavo National Park
In the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, the low savannah grasslands of both these parks provide ideal animal viewing opportunities. Much of the smaller Amboseli National Park is an ancient dry lake bed surrounded by fertile swamp land, where vegetation is lush and animal and bird life abundant. Tsavo is flatter with thornbush, acacia and baobab trees providing some shade.

Masai Mara National Reserve
The grassland plains and rolling bush-covered hills of the Masai Mara provide some of the best game viewing in Africa. The wildebeest migration during July to September is famous but throughout the year there is an abundance of wildlife in the park, including the 'big five', zebra, cheetahs, topi, giraffe, impala, baboons, and over 500 species of bird. Try a hot air balloon for the ultimate Mara adventure.
