Kenya Safari Parks

Samburu, Shaba and Aberdare

Situated 230 miles north of Nairobi at the edge of the arid northeast region, Samburu and Shaba are well known for their herds of elephant and large numbers of leopards, along with more unusual Grevys zebra and reticulated giraffe. Watch out for the crocodiles by the Ewaso Ngiro River, a magnet for all wildlife at the end of the dat. Aberdare is more wooded with plenty of monkeys and amazing birdlife.

Lake Nakuru and Naivasha

Lying at the heart of the Great Rift Valley, these two magnificent lakes have attracted bird and animal life for thousands of years. In its own National Park, Lake Nakuru is world famous for hundreds of thousands of pink flamingos which live there, as well as the variety of game around its shores. Lake Naivasha boasts over 400 species of native birds.

Amboseli and Tsavo National Park

In the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, the low savannah grasslands of both these parks provide ideal animal viewing opportunities. Much of the smaller Amboseli National Park is an ancient dry lake bed surrounded by fertile swamp land, where vegetation is lush and animal and bird life abundant. Tsavo is flatter with thornbush, acacia and baobab trees providing some shade.

Masai Mara National Reserve

The grassland plains and rolling bush-covered hills of the Masai Mara provide some of the best game viewing in Africa. The wildebeest migration during July to September is famous but throughout the year there is an abundance of wildlife in the park, including the 'big five', zebra, cheetahs, topi, giraffe, impala, baboons, and over 500 species of bird. Try a hot air balloon for the ultimate Mara adventure.

Mount Kenya National Park

Mouth Kenya National Park is a unique destination with snow-capped peaks stretching towards the skies, surrounded by dry scrubland and bamboo forests.

Lewa Wildlife Reserve

Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is small wildlife reserve located to the north of the Mount Kenya National Park and immediately south of the Eastern Province town of Isiolo.
